The 2014 edition of the CNN MultiChoice African Journalist Awards will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Mlimani Convention Centre in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The Managing Director, MultiChoice Nigeria, Mr. John Ugbe, made this known on Thursday.
Ugbe said the competition, which received entries from 48 countries, including French and Portuguese-speaking countries on the continent, had 28 finalists from 10 countries.
He said some Nigerian journalists were nominated for the awards. They are Obinna Emelike of BusinessDay, Olatunji Ololade of The Nation, Bayo Olupohunda, a columnist with THE PUNCH; and a joint nominee, Ben Ezeamalu and Emmanuel Ogala of Premium Times.
According to Ugbe, the CNN MultiChoice African Journalist Awards represent the premier accolade for excellence in journalism on the continent.
“The awards have become the standard for excellence in journalism on the African continent and it is the reason for which journalists and media houses on the continent want to be associated with,” he said.
