Amina, who is standing trial before Senior Magistrate
Folashade Folarin, was denied bail for allegedly cheating one Felicia Udogwu of PHCN, Maitama, Abuja.
Prosecutor Emmanuel Adoku had told the court that the
accused, a resident of OAU Quarters, Maitama, Abuja, was arraigned on a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust and cheating.
Adoku said that the complainant in August 2010, bought a Toyota Rav 4 from the accused value one million naira. He said that Udogwu discovered that the vehicle had an engine and electrical fault, and she informed the accused.
The prosecutor said that the accused, thereafter, told her brother, one Abdulmalik Garba, now at large, to pretend to be a car dealer.
He told the court that Garba in the company of the accused collected the said car, with an additional N300,000 from the complainant, with a promise to exchange the car with a Toyota Corolla 2009 model.
Adoku said that when the accused did not fulfil her promise, the complainant in June, 2015, reported the case at the Maitama Police Station.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 97, 312 and 322 of the Penal Code. When the charges were read to the accused, she pleaded not guilty.
She ordered the accused to be remanded in police custody and adjourned the case till July 29, for hearing.
