Delta Police bust another baby factory

An operator of a baby factory located opposite the Federal Radio Corporation, Asaba, Delta State, Mr John Ihezun, has been arrested by police detectives from the Delta Police Command, Asaba.

This brings to eight the number of baby factories discovered across the country in the last nine months. The police had previously discovered baby factories in Owerri, Lagos, Aba and Umuahia, Imo, Lagos and Abia States, respectively.

According to the Spokesperson of the command, DSP Celestina Kalu, the baby-making factory was discovered after some detectives, acting on a tip-off, swooped on the premises on July 30, 2015 and rescued eight girls in their different stages of pregnancy. "Detectives also arrested two boys, one Prince Chukwu and Obum Nwankwo, in the premises of the baby factory," Kalu said.

While the command could not give further details about the incident, it said that investigations have already begun and would prosecute those involved in the practice, which he described as illegal.
