arrested on Monday for allegedly raping an 18-year-old girl seeking admission into the university, Punch reports.
The girl was identified as Caroline (pseudonym). She was reportedly raped inside a study room. In his defense, the lecturer told the police that the sexual
intercourse was by mutual consent, insisting that he did not rape the victim.
On the day it happened, Caroline's father gave his daughter consent to follow the lecturer to UNILAG for an admission process. Baruwa allegedly took the girl inside one of the study halls, bolted the door, and raped her.
Caroline told her parents about the rape and was taken to a non-governmental organisation, Mirabel Centre, where she was tested. The medical result reportedly confirmed that the teenager was violated.
The matter was taken to the Lagos State Office of the Public Defender and the police, leading to Baruwa's arrest.
